Structure of the influenza viron. The hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) proteins are shown on the surface of the particle. The viral RNAs that make up the genome are shown as red coils inside the particle and bound to Ribonuclear Proteins (RNPs).

There are many symptoms and signs of flu. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these signs and symptoms:

  •     Muscle or body aches
  •     Headaches
  •     Fatigue (very tired)

Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults. It’s important to know the risk factors of flu and protect yourself from influenza this year.

Flu season usually begins towards the end of January, into early February in a typical year. Following precautionary measures can help save you from 2013 flu wave.

  •     Get vaccinated
  •     Wash your hands
  •     Use hand sanitizer.
  •     Avoid spreading the virus.
  •     Use nasal sprays.
  •     Seek medical attention.
  •     Consult your physician.


So, if you feel symptoms coming on, take them seriously and seek treatment early.
